The honeysuckle I use is kept natural. I do not use coloring or any kind of finish on the honeysuckle or the completed baskets.
The skinned honeysuckle starts out light green in color and will turn a beautiful gold which deepens the more it's in the sunlight. The baskets you order will arrive any color within that range. Although no two baskets are exactly the same, you will most likely not notice a difference.
The brown color you see in my baskets is unskinned honeysuckle. This brown color will not change.
Mostly I make baskets for using. They are strong, light in weight and have an ability to endure years of use without showing wear. On this website the same image is used for baskets in different sizes and the measurement is of the greatest overall dimension, not including handles.
Honeysuckle is the only vine used in my basketry. On only a very few of my pieces I use a small wire within the basket. This gives an added support to an area I think needs it. I may also use a twig, or small stones (for paperweight). Other than that my baskets are made entirely of honeysuckle, picked largely on the property where I grew up.
New - Artistic woodturner John Noffsinger and I have been collaborating on some pieces. View an image on Elaborate Pieces (#1025). See more of these pieces on John's website: http://johnnoffsinger.com/gallery.htm, where you will also be amazed at the incredible skill John puts into his work.
Complete satisfaction is guaranteed on all my baskets.
